That being said I wanted to acknowledge some of the 2010 noms:

Best actor Jeremy Renner in “The Hurt Locker.” I'm glad the academy is noticing this movie as much as the critics -- maybe it'll get seen by more people now.

Best actor in a supporting role Christoph Waltz in “Inglourious Basterds.” Shoe-in Winner.

Best actress in a leading role Carey Mulligan in “An Education” -- I would of liked to see this film get more nods

Best actress in a supporting role Maggie Gyllenhaal in “Crazy Heart” --deserving.

Best animated feature film “Fantastic Mr. Fox” -- this better win.

Best Director Quentin Tarantino -- could be his year.

Best motion picture of the year “District 9″ -- How awesome would it be if this won Best Picture, especially over "Avatar."

Best Adapted screenplay “District 9″ -- c'mon, at least give em this one.

Best Original screenplay “Inglourious Basterds” -- the contender, Tarantino's won this before and can do it again.

All in all, I'm glad the Academy is recognizing more mainstream, albeit outside the norm, film-making, but I would of like to see Tom Ford's "A Single Man" get more notice for it's gorgeous cinematography and art direction; and I'm disappointed "Avatar" has gotten as many nominations as it did. It was groundbreaking in special effects, but beyond that....seriously.
